The success of Middle Eastern companies in Brazil
A census — not a sample — of 989 Brazilian companies that ever registered at least one shareholder resident in the Middle East / West Asia, drawn from the public CNPJ registry of the Brazilian Federal Revenue. 564 remain active: a 57% success rate, above the long-run survival (~25%) of Brazilian companies in general. Three profiles define the region — Israeli technology, Emirati finance and real estate, and the historic Lebanese merchant diaspora — with the United Arab Emirates showing the highest survival. The full study can be read online below.

Methodological note
Source: the public CNPJ registry of the Brazilian Federal Revenue (December 2025 extraction), audited CNPJ by CNPJ against the 2024 base. Success rate = active companies ÷ census total. Investor type is defined by the first regional shareholder registered; companies with shareholders from several countries are counted in each country. “Middle East / West Asia” covers Israel, the Gulf states, the Levant and Turkey; the United Arab Emirates functions partly as a capital and holding gateway, and its high survival should be read in that light. Company-level data is available on request — every published figure can be independently verified.
